Preface: This post is in no way shape or form an attempt to disrespect or demean anyone. These are my thoughts: real, raw and unabashed.
I’ve always been the type of person that has been known to go out of their way to do for others. There have been times where I’ve driven across town from school, knowing I was low on gas just to drop off some food for a friend because I stopped past Checkers for myself. There have been times when I’ve gone out of my way to pick a friend up from work on a few occasions. There was the time when I ferried one of my boys and his “broad of the moment” around while they were out on a “date”. There was even a time when I drove a friend back home to PG County (pretty much 5 minutes from the DC-MD border) at 3 AM because the friend that brought her to Baltimore did not feel like taking her back home. I mention these things, not because of wanting to gloat, and not because I’m trying to cop the ‘Best Friend of the Year’ award, but because I don’t mind doing for people that I hold close to me.
After last week’s entry, I was on a bit of an emotional high. I got the internship I wanted, the lowest grade I have is A ‘B’ in Calc II, and lastly, I’m starting to see results from this O.S.A.G. thing. Everything’s going well…or at least it should be. Last week an unexpected bill popped up, which resulted in me having to put the majority of my paycheck, in addition to the little bit of money I had stashed in savings up to pay for it. After I paid the bill, I had a choice to make. Do I save the last little bit of money I have for gas, or do I go to the market and try to make due with what I have. Well, OPEC won that battle, and my money. Being on a fixed income sucks but seeing as how it’s temporary I guess I can’t complain too much. There’s no point in complaining about something that you have limited to no control over.
And I’m stuck at work in front of a huge ass picture window. Isn’t life grand?
Can someone please tell me, How I’m s’pose to breath with no air? No, seriously it’s hot as hell in my house right now. You know it’s hot when your sitting completely still and you still manage to break a sweat.
Last.fm is the shit.
Anyone ever wonder why Weatherscan (The Weather Channel & Comcast Digital Cable’s Bastard stepchild) always plays that happy go lucky elevator music?
About a week or two back, I found myself up at 3:29 am browsing the web for new music. After about 3 minutes and 26 clicks, I found myself on a site called Last.fm. I downloaded the software and after a few seconds of importing my info over from iTunes, I was in business. I’ve stumbled across alot of music from artists that I never knew existed and now, I’m checking out (rediscovering rather) tracks from artists that I totally forgot about. This site is definitely the place to go if you want to find new music. Idk how many people are familiar with the site, but I’ve posted the link below.
Here’s the Url: www.last.fm

Random Thought of the Moment: “Got Dammit! I burned my thumb on that hot cup of tea…smh. I swear I’m always unintentionally doing something to myself…”

It’s been 2 months since you cut all ties with her/him. You still hurt a little, but it’s definitely not as bad as it was 6 weeks ago. You’ve been a hermit for the past two months and now you’re ready to pick it up, dust it off and keep on moving. Life definitely does go on.
What if the draft were reenacted tomorrow?
I remember it like it was yesterday. I was in ROTC class back in HS, and the Commander reminded all the guys in the class that we had to register with the Selective Service on or before our eighteenth birthdays. Looking back on the situation, the only thing that registered with me was the fact that if we did not register with the Selective Service, we would not be able to take out loans for college. I believe I registered a few weeks after my seventeenth birthday mainly to get it out of the way so that I could concentrate on more pressing matters such as lunch period and going home after school to take my midday nap. Yup, the joys of high school…

When you hear about an earthquake, what’s the first thought that pops into your head? California, right? West Coast, right? Far the hell away from me as possible, right? Well you’d like to think so. Most people aren’t aware of the fact that the Midwestern United States has been known to be a seismically active region. Granted, there aren’t as many earthquakes there as there are west of the Rocky Mountains, but there are still some.
This past week, I have been hearing about earthquakes that have struck my old home state of Illinois. When I heard about this, I immediately jumped up and started websurfing. As a person that has been studying earthquakes since the 6th grade, I was immediately excited but equally nervous. Lemme just start off by saying that I am NOT a seismologist nor do I work for the USGS (United States Geological Survey). I’m just an average dude that likes to read about earthquakes and plate tectonics.
