Happy Mother’s Day

Even though we stress you out at times

Even though you might need a break

We still appreciate all that you do,

Including all your give and take.

You do all that you can,

When fathers are nowhere to be found

Assuming both parental roles

While keeping our feet on solid ground.

Though I may be busy at times, lemme take the time out to say,

I Love You Ma, Happy Mother’s Day.

This post is dedicated to my mother, my sister (even though I don’t like her right now), my grandmother, and all the other mothers in my family.

Special shout out to Sixty, Mrs. Saddity, Tanyetta, P, and all the other mothers out there in blogland.

Happy Mother’s Day ladies.

O.S.A.G. Week 19: Shock Value

This week, nothing much has changed with what I have been eating. I still haven’t made my way to the market due to lack of funds. Earlier this week, I turned down offers to go back to Cheeburger Cheeburger and CiCi’s Pizza. That was definitely hard as hell. But, knowing that I had eaten out so much last week, I decided that I’d rather rough it at home. Thursday, my mother turned 58 and she had a little born day shindig down at the bar where she moonlights. I really didn’t want to go at first, but seeing as how that’s Ma Dukes, and she’s always there when I need her, why the hell not? I get down there, and to my suprise, a couple of my aunts and uncles are already down there. We chatted it up for a while, while my uncles took me around the bar introducing me to all the people they knew. I was trying to focus on the Hornet’s game, but I was distracted by all those older people in there “dancing” to their old school soul music. LOL, I definitely was fighting back laughter because those old heads thought they were doin’ something! lol.

Heavy Rotation VI: The ‘Taking You to Church’ Edition

Pews

It’s Sunday Morning. Ma Dukes is downstairs cooking her usual breakfast for the family. You’re upstairs polishing your shoes. Your sister is hogging up the bathroom and all the hot water on the block. Even though you hate getting dressed up to sit in a hot church for 3 hours, you still do it because Ma Dukes says you ‘look handsome’. The real reason why you’re looking forward to going is because you get to sit next to Keisha the entire service… Remember those days?

Throwback Thursday

So I’m starting something new here on the blog called Throwback Thursdays. I’ll put up one R&B and one Hip-Hop song from back in the day (when music was good). I wanna see how many people can guess the songs. This go ’round, I’ll start with something mad easy. Here goes:

What songs are these?

I’m Home.

I’m home from the Dentist’s Office, and surprisingly, I’m not in pain. I had a filling put in and now, I’m chillin. The only bad thing is that I can barely feel the right side of my face. IDK even know why I thought I was gonna be in there surrounded by drills and needles lol. It was a quick, in and out procedure, and now I’m home kicked back watching movies for the rest of the day. That is until I head out to Ma Dukes Born Day Shindig tonight after she gets off work.

HAPPY BORN DAY MA DUKES!

You’re 58 years young and you don’t look a day over 20. ok 30. Ok I’ll say 40. lol

Rising Up While Winding Down.

Today, I have my Speech final and to be completely honest, I already know I have it in the bag. Yesterday, Ms. Corona and I were supposed to meet up in the library on campus to go over the study guide, but I think she forgot about me. In any event, I’m still confident in the fact that I won’t get less than an A. I have my Calc II and Geology Finals next Wednesday, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous about my Calc II final. It feels as if I’ve been struggling since midterms, but according to the professor, I’m handling my business! Studying and preparation will definitely help me out with maintaining my B in that class. Who knows. Maybe I’ll pull an A. Wish me luck yall.

Also, Shouts out and Congratulations to my boys J. Dakar and Dennis Jansen for graduating this term. I’ll be there in a few semesters fellas.

Random Thought of the Moment: “Is it just me, or does it seem as if this semester just flew by?”

The Song of the Moment: “It Ain’t Love” by Rahsaan Patterson

LOL

This is hilarious…just watch it.

They’re Back…

Here’s The Roots new single “Rising Up” featuring one of my favorite up and coming rappers Wale and Chrisette Michele. I’m digging the album so far, but I think the guest spots may be a little much. Is anyone else diggin this album so far?

O.S.A.G. Week 18: To Eat In or To Eat Out. That Is The Question…

The past couple of days have been relatively easy on me. Yesterday I went downtown for Jury Duty and remembered that I didn’t eat breakfast (running late, in addition to talking to an old friend I haven’t heard from in almost 4 years). The jurors were given an hour and 15 minute long lunch break, so I called Best Friend N (b/c she works downtown) and we tried to find somewhere to eat. At first we were just gonna hit up Quizno’s but seeing as how there is virtually no parking AND construction going on at every intersection, we headed down to the surprisingly crowded Inner Harbor. Fill In The Blank Friday. Well In My Case, Saturday

I copied this from Organized Noise’s spot. Just something to pass the time seeing as how I’m bored as hell here at work.

1. The song title that best describes my current [or most recent] relationship would be “Another Again” by John Legend because we went through the motions for awhile before we finally called it quits. She and I tried being friends, but that ultimately led us back to where we were before.

2. Three ways that a woman can instantly turn me off are by smoking, unnecessary loudness and not displaying some degree of intelligence.

3. If I had to attach a warning label to my heart it would read ‘Good luck trying to get this bad boy open…”

4. It would be REAL nice to come home from work and find A Billion Dollars.

5. No amount of money in the world could make me have sex with a man, eat shit, or go on ‘The Moment of Truth’.

6. The first things I usually notice about a woman are how she looks, her eyes and how she carries herself.

7. If I had it my way, I wouldn’t procrastinate so much.

8. There’s nothing more sexy than getting to see my woman wearing nothing at all. :)

9. If a man/woman wants to be a part of my life he/she has to understand that I have priorities outside of her, have a sense of humor, be able to converse about almost anything.

10. A word to describe how I plan to spend my weekend is ordinary.
