Growing up as a kid, I never came down with anything more than the standard cold (although there was the one time in 8th grade that I caught the flu). But I definitely know that not all people can say the same.
Asthma, Bronchitis, Chicken Pox, The Flu, at one point or another in our lifetimes, we can all that that we’ve heard of these ailments.
But how many people can say that they’ve heard of Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD)?
My boy J. Dakar can because he suffers from it.

I dated a football player in HS who got hit really hard in a game and was urinating blood afterwards. They rushed him to the hospital and told him that he had PKD and a cyst was ruptured when he was hit. Gave him a list of activities to avoid – Football was a big NoNo. It’s been almost 11 years and I don’t think he’s had any incidents since, but the threat of it still lingers.
