‘Let Me Tell Ya Something!!!!’

I think I may have to give up cooking for awhile. I’m pretty sure that God may have been trying to send me a sign with the not one, but TWO incidents that occured over Spring Break which resulted in me having to air out my house with one of those huge box fans. Read more…

Nervous Energy

By now, I’m almost 100% certain that unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past year or so, you already know that the economy is crap right now.

As I look around and keep in touch with a few of my friends that graduated Spring, 2008 (the semester  I was SUPPOSED to graduate); I’ve noticed that a couple of them are STILL not having any luck finding full time employment almost one year after graduating from college. I’m partially upset that I didn’t graduate on time and I felt some type of way seeing my friends off while I remained at Morgan State. Be that as it may, I am still happy that I’m in school because for the most part, I’m shielded from the lack of employment opportunities that many of my friends are currently facing.

Spring Break.

Today is day 1 of my 5 day stint away from Morgan State University. Ok, so maybe that’s not 100% true. I have to head back on campus sometime this week to get some work done for Yearbook. I’ve found that I’m usually 1 Billion % more productive when I’m on campus, compared to when I’m home.

Now that I think back over my now 5 years in college, I’ve never actually gone on “Spring Break”. I either sat at home and chilled, or worked the entire time. This year, I’ll be working, studying and doing other things over the course of the next 4 days.

Sounds exciting, no?

At this point, I’ll take any type of break away from school that I can get. Even if it is only in a physical sense.

My Brain: “Yea. We’re gonna get this money over Spring Break. 5 Days off of school means 5 extra days at work. Cha-Ching!”

My Body: “Motherf****r, somebody done told you wrong! You plan on working me for 10 days straight? Yeah, ok. We’ll see about that.”

My Visual Expression.

This past weekend, I started a blog where I’ll be  chronicling the development of my photography skills.  I’m definitely interested in seeing how far I can push myself towards becoming a great photographer.

Over on the blog, I’ll post one picture a day (M-F) with the stats of said photograph, and let everyone have at it with constructive criticism down in the comments section. I’ll also post the idea I shared in the last post about the projects from the Online Photography School over there (when I start that…should be April 1.)

The blog is entitled Visual Expression and you can find it here.

This past week, I’ve been in a bit of an indifferent mood. I’ve gone to class but didn’t really pay attention, gone to work and just did the bare minimum and have just been operating on Auto Pilot.

Don’t really know why either. I’ve already started to refocus though. Can’t let myself slip too much.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about starting my own business. It’s centered around Photography and I think it’s a really unique idea. I’m not gonna give it away though. I don’t want someone stealing my idea trying to make it their own, you know?

Speaking of photography, I’ve been reading up on Photography projects. I’d join a forum and then I’d have a month to complete a given assignment and then I’d submit it to the forum for review. Sounds like a good idea, no? I remember Ross Oscar Knight posting a couple projects over at his spot (peep the sidebar) but I can’t remember which entries were which.

AND I’m also thinking about starting a photography blog. This idea is still in the preliminary planning stages though. I need to start shooting more!

I need to wash clothes.

Why is it that I wake up 3 hours before class everyday (excluding Thursdays) and I make it there by the skin of my teeth every morning?

I need to go grocery shopping, and believe it or not; I haven’t been to Super Wal-Mart in a minute.

Touchless Car Washes are BS. I spent a total of $16 to get my car washed and it still looks dirty as crap. I’m gonna get it detailed one of these days…when I have the time.

It’ll probably be over Spring Break. I wish I could afford to go visit The Haitians in down in Florida. But of course, working to pay bills doesn’t leave much money to spend on anything else.

On Sunday, I almost hit a deer. That mofo jumped out into traffic as I was heading to work. Luckily, It was about 6:50 in the morning, and there was no traffic , so Bambi’s neice didn’t get mowed down. Well, not by me at least.

A Conversation.

Me: “Yo, you still competing in the ‘Do You Know Your Best Friend Contest’  with me tonight?”

Best Friend (or so I thought) A: “Uh, nah. Me and my girl are gonna chill today. Besides, I don’t know you well enough!

WTF?! I’ve been scratching my head about the last line of  the above conversation for a week now. (And yes, that was a real conversation).

How can you be quote-en-quote Best Friends or better yet, “brothers” with someone that you claim you barely know? Read more…
