Movie Review: Spike Lee’s Do The Right Thing

“Violence as a way of achieving racial justice is both impractical and immoral. It is impractical because it is a descending spiral ending in destruction for all. The old law of an eye for an eye leaves everybody blind. It is immoral because it seeks to humiliate the opponent rather than win his understanding; it seeks to annihilate rather than to convert.”
-Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
All I can say is wow. I really had forgotten how powerful this movie was. I haven’t seen this movie in years, and this is actually the first time I sat through it in its entirety. It definitely does make you think. Should you just sit by and let the negative happen, or should you take a stand for what you believe in? In this movie, Spike Lee left that question open to the viewer…I personally think that there’s always more than one way to solve a problem. What do you think?

I agree with you, there are several ways to solve a problem. But it really depends on the person and what they decide.
