Heavy Rotation XV: The ‘Bolton Hill’ Edition

bolton

For those of you unfamiliar with Baltimore, allow me to introduce you to Bolton Hill. This is one of the neighborhoods you don’t hear about on The Wire or Homicide: Life on the Street. Bolton Hill is a neighborhood located in West Baltimore, which happens to be made up of mostly restored 3-story rowhomes, overpriced apartments, mature trees, cafes, and the like. Although I don’t chill down here much, I’ve always gotten a really laid back vibe from being around the neigborhood.

Maybe Bilal’s “when will you call” or Maxwell’s “know these things”. I love those songs. They’re pretty mellowed out.
In fact, how about the whole Love Jones soundtrack. lol

Nice post. One small gripe — Bolton Hill is NOT in West Baltimore. It is in the Central police district, and is classified as Central/MidTown.

      Tara,

Thank you for comment as it is very much appreciated.

However I feel I need to mention two things:

      1. Bolton Hill is WEST of Charles Street which is the dividing line between EAST Baltimore and WEST Baltimore. That would in fact qualify the neighborhood as being in WEST Baltimore.

      2. More specifically, Bolton Hill is located in the Central Police District, which you are correct about.

I’ll be the first to admit when I’m wrong, IF I’m wrong. However, in this case, I was not. Please refrain from attempting to correct me (or anyone else for that matter) when photographic evidence (see above) substantiates what I am speaking on.

      Thank You.

Laid back vibe? I’d suggest a few songs from the Charlie Hunter Quartet: Day is Done ft. Nora Jones & Creole ft. Mos Def (My ALL-TIME favorite song!)
