Blazing a Trail

Going off of what has been in the media lately, it is appears that newly elected President Barack Obama and his Administration are blazing a trail towards what he promised during the length of his campaign.

A couple of weeks ago, Obama signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act which is a giant leap towards financial equality in the workplace.

For those of you that are uninformed, the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act is this:

To amend title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, and to modify the operation of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, to clarify that a discriminatory compensation decision or other practice that is unlawful under such Acts occurs each time compensation is paid pursuant to the discriminatory compensation decision or other practice, and for other purposes.

Since the Inauguration, Obama and his Administration have been putting in work towards pulling the country out of the rut we’re currently in.

Also in the news, the new Economic Stimulus plan which is still going the proper channels to be approved may be a jumpstart for our economy, the plan is set up to provide funds for tax breaks for citizens, improvements to our infrastructure, and many other issues/programs that have taken a funding loss due to the current state of the economy.

With Obama being in office for close to a month, do you think that his administration’s new initiatives (if handled correctly) will bring our country and economy back to it’s former glory?

No I don’t. But I don’t think anyone can pull us out of this funk. These things have to run their course before they rebound. AND we will not see a return to where we were for decades if ever. The economy is not coming back…Jobs are not coming back. Sure new places will open and people will get back to work but it won’t be the same.

Honestly I am not sure what the Economic Stimulus Package is meant to do exactly. I am not an expert and have no desire to be one. BUT I feel like throwing money at the problem is making a few problems better while making the common citizen’s situation worse or the same.

But like I said…I really don’t know enough to get on their cases or make suggestions.
