As of late, I’ve been in a someone introspective mood about various facets of my life. Because of that, I’ve been paying closer attention to what people say and do and have been recalling things I was taught as a kid. Here are some creeds that I’ve been living by or have thought about over the past few weeks:
You can plan until the cows come home, and it still won’t change the fact that when shit happens, it happens.
Forget everyone and listen to yourself. Strength lies in the hands of an individual, not the approval of one’s peers.
Sometimes perception is reality but sometimes it really just is the way it is.
God shouldn’t scare you, ignorance should. Man shouldn’t use religion to due/do good.
Why make your decisions based on what others think or what they want? To hell with them…at the end of the day, you have to live with the decisions you chose or chose not to make.
“In order to succeed, you must first be willing to fail.” -Anonymous
“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal.” -Henry Ford.
“Really, what embodies American inefficiency more than eating rice with a fork?”- the homie Coop via Twitter
“All Truth passes through 3 stages: 1st it is ridiculed; 2nd it is violently opposed; 3rd it is accepted as being self evident.” -Schopenhauer
“Envisioning the end is enough to put the means in motion.”- Dorothea Brande
“The Hardest Battle In Life Is To Be Nobody But Yourself In A World Which Is Doing Its Best, Night And Day, To Make You Like Everyone Else.” -E.E. Cummings
Here are some creeds from the post over at VSB that inspired this one:
Find humor in everything, even when it’s inappropriate.
Don’t argue. Choose your words so that once you’ve stated your piece, there’s nothing left for you to say. They heard you the first time.
Never bring a knife to a gun fight. But keep a blade handy, just in case.
Dance, sing, cry, and pray. There are few burdens that can’t be lightened with one, the other, or a combination of all.
Time is your most precious commodity, the one thing that can easily be lost, but never gotten back. Govern yourself accordingly.
You wont like everybody you meet. Dont waste life minutes forcing it. IT IS WHAT IT IS respect them as a person & move on.
Dont take sh*t so seriously. Learn to enjoy even the little things.
Listen to many, speak to few. Learn to shut up because you learn a lot about a person by REALLY listening to them.
Granted there were many more that I found myself agreeing with, but for the sake of brevity (as if this isn’t already long enough), I’ll just stop now.
What creeds do you live by?
