Heavy Rotation IV: Clean House Edition

Mop
As of today, my spring break is officially over. Tomorrow and Sunday, I’m back at the hospital working just like I would on any other weekend. The past 2 days, I have been at home cleaning (with the occasional break) like a hebrew slave. Dusting, Sweeping, Scrubbing, Moving Furniture, let’s just say ya boy was getting it in. In addition to scrubbing like my name was Benson, My Bose Sounddock followed me from room to room as I cleaned and it actually helped the process to move along alot faster. Growing up in my house, every Saturday was cleaning day. My mother would pop a CD into her stereo and she would be dancing, humming and having a good time while she cleaned. Now that I look back, I can definitely see where I get that from (granted I wasn’t dancing or anything like that…) Anyways, here are some of the songs that I was listening to:

“Hate On Me” by Jill Scott
“Lettin Go!” by Janelle Monae
“I Got It Made” by Special Ed
“People Make The World Go Round” by The Stylistics
“Memory Lane” by Minnie Ripperton
“N.E. Heartbreak” by New Edition
“Candy Girl” by New Edition
“Can You Feel It” by The Jacksons
“Rhythm of the Night” by DeBarge
“Night to Remember” by Shalamar
“Back to Black” by Amy Winehouse
“Wish You Were Here” by Incubus
“Stand By You” by The Pretenders
“Dream” by The Cranberries
“Breathless’ by The Corrs
“Barely Breathing” by Duncan Sheik
“Everything You Want” by Vertical Horizon
“Sex & Candy” by Marcy Playground
“1979” by The Smashing Pumpkins
“Tonight, Tonight” by The Smashing Pumpkins
“Encore” by Cheryl Lynn
“Be OK” by Chrisette Michele
“Dumb It Down” by Lupe Fiasco
“Love Endeavor” by Alice Smith
“She Wants to Move” by N.E.R.D.
“Scandalous Scholastics” by Gym Class Heroes
“Caught Up In The Rapture” by Anita Baker
“Imagine Me” by Kirk Franklin
“In The Morning” by Mary Mary
“We Fall Down” by Donnie McClurkin
“Party Life” by Jay-Z
“Why We Sing” by Kirk Franklin
“Rock With U” by Janet Jackson
“Rock Wit U” by Alicia Keys
“Rock With You” by Michael Jackson
“P.Y.T” by Michael Jackson
“Smooth Criminal” by Michael Jackson

There was alot more music, but that may take another 2-300 more lines, so I’ll just stop here. When you clean (assuming that you do), do you listen to music? If so, what do you listen to?

Um when I clean…I dont listen to music but I think alot. It kinda inspires me to write so I like silence when I do clean up.

Anyway, I love the playlist. I got to look some of those people up:-)

  4. When I clean, I ALWAY have the iPod playing in the background. It depends on my mood, but most of the time I’ll listen to Latin music (salsa, merengue, reggaeton), my old school music (either pre-1980 or 1985 and later) or I’ll listen to an installment of DJ Jamad’s Afromentals — they are all upbeat and get me going.

After reading your playlist, I see we have VERY similar taste in music…
